Health Benefits

HEALTH BENEFITS

Food directly influences wellbeing and behavior. After all, Hippocrates said that "All disease begins in the gut." What Hippocrates, the "Father of Medicine" said 2000 years ago, has been validated by the latest scientific studies. Scientific research connects gut health with a wide range of conditions such as

- Obesity

- Diabetes

- Irritable Bowel Syndrome

- Parkinson's Disease

- Autoimmune Diseases

- Autism

- "Foggy" brain

Greek Yogurt

Nutritionists say that a bowl of Greek yogurt is packed with essential nutrients such as protein, calcium, potassium, iodine, and Vitamin B-12. This is aside from probiotics which balance the good and bad bacteria in the gut.

 - Protein is essential to cell growth, building and regenerating muscle, and tissue repair.

- Calcium regulates output of the hormone cortisol which can cause the body to store fat.

- Potassium helps balance out sodium in the body.

- Iodine ensures proper thyroid function which in turn makes for healthy metabolism. This then promotes weight loss.

- Vitamin B-12 is necessary for energy and healthy brain function.

Mango

The mango fruit itself (pulp) is rich in Vitamins A, B-6, C, K, Folate, and Potassium. It is also a source of fiber.

Mango Seed Kernel

The mango seed is high in phenolic compounds, carotenoids, Vitamin C, and dietary fiber. It is a good source of protein, essential amino acids, oleic and stearic acids.

The presence of mineral antioxidants in mango seed has been scientifically reported (specifically potassium, copper, manganese, zinc, iron, and selenium). The mango seed has also been reported to have breast and colon anti-cancer activity as well as antimicrobial activity.

Mango Peel

The Royal Society of Chemistry reported in 2012 that Australian scientists concluded that chemicals in mango peel suppress the formation of fatty cells.

*A further bonus is that mango seed and mango peel are upcycled bio wastes from Feel Well's yogurt and mango processing, thus eliminating waste. This chimes in with Feel Well's zero waste principle.

Yacon

The yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius) is a tuber native to the Andes in South America. It is considered a superfood. The yacon Feel Well uses is sourced from organic farmers situated at the foot of the Sierra Madre mountains in southern Nueva Vizcaya.

We use yacon as non-sugar sweetener as it has only a third of the caloric value of sugar. It is in fact considered anti-diabetic. Yacon is also an excellent source of fiber, being high in fructooligosaccharides (FOS), a kind of fructans with excellent prebiotic effect. When fructans reach the large intestines, they feed the friendly gut bacteria, further ensuring balance in your gut microbiome. A happy gut, a happy, healthy you!

Studies have shown yacon to have a high level of antioxidant activity arising from its significant amounts of bioactive phenolic compounds.

As a result, yacon by itself confers the following benefits:

- Helps reduce constipation, bloating, and gastric ulcers;

- Prevents fat accumulation in the liver and maintains proper liver health

- Reduces levels of bad cholesterol and strain on the cardiovascular system

- Aids in managing diabetes

Coconut MCT

Coconut Medium Chain Triglycerides are fats found in coconut oil. Unlike other fats, they go straight from the gut to the liver where they are used as a source of energy or turned into ketones. Ketosis has been determined to have some beneficial effect on brain and memory function.

A scientific study published in 2009 suggests that consuming MCT-rich food may improve exercise endurance.

Evidence also suggests that MCTs play an important role in weight loss and management, as well as improvement in cholesterol and blood sugar levels.
