"I am not a physician. I am not a biologist. So I cannot tell for sure whether these supposed organisms in my gut really help me at all.
What I know is that when I eat cakes with lots of icing, processed meats, rice and pasta, my blood pressure shoots up and I can’t sleep well. But when I eat mostly vegetables and cauliflower prepared like rice and yoghurts and fermented juice I am able to sleep better and I feel better - my blood pressure goes down to its ideal level.
Ever since the imposition of the quarantine I have stayed home in keeping with the regulations regarding seniors. I started walking and lifting light weights and exercising with cables. I started doing leg raises and push-ups and I continued with a diet of vegetables, cauliflower rice, no sweets – ok, maybe just a spoonful when someone sends a cake on my birthday – plus yoghurt with my granola,
cream cheese, organic eggs, and fermented juice. After a while I noticed that I could fit into my old clothes again and I am developing what I am almost certain are abs!
I cannot tell for sure whether these supposed organisms in my gut really help me at all. But what I do know is that I have more energy. More importantly, what I do know is that the back story of how the yoghurt and the cream cheese and the eggs and the fermented juice are produced is a wonderful tale. I like how different products come from many different places: from free-range poultries for eggs and pastures for carabaos, from orchards of dragonfruit and plantations of mangoes. I like how they are all brought together to be prepared and packed. Most of all, I like to hear about the people that have set this all up and what they had to plan and to organize, what they had to endure.
The tale of the people whose vision brought these products together is truly inspiring. I am inspired to exercise. I am inspired to eat the right food and to be grateful that I still have a choice when many do not. I am inspired to take better care of myself so I am able to better care for others."
